If you’re in the business of naming, you’ve probably done this without realizing it.

Portmanteau.

The merging of words to become one. Here are a few examples of portmanteau:

Smoke + Fog = Smog
Bros + Romance = Bromance
Motor + Hotel = Motel

Now for some brand examples:

Pin + Interest = Pinterest
Gary Burell + Min Kao = Garmin
Internet + Flicks = Netflix
